The true inventor of four-wheel drive is not really known; the history of such was not well recorded. In 1893, before the establishment of a modern automotive industry in Britain, English engineer Bramah Joseph Diplock patented a four wheel drive system for a Traction engine, including four-wheel steering and three differentials, which was subsequently built. The development also incorporated Bramah's Pedrail wheel system in what was one of the first four-wheel drive automobiles to display an intentional ability to travel on challenging road surfaces. It stemmed from Bramagh's previous idea of developing an engine that would reduce the amount of damage to public roads.

News
The new mud season has started...
Our new events season kicked off on the 19th Feb with a very enjoyable and successful driving day. It was our busiest event yet and as always our choice of venue at Holymoorside proved itself yet again with drivers stuck left, right and centre and because of the very damp conditions proved to be a very challenging event

Of course this is not our only event we have loads planned for all our members and guests running right through the year till november so please keep a good watch on our forum for all our latest event news. There will be events for all levels of driver and vehicle and all are welcome to come to any of our advertised events.

If there's anything you would like to see the club do then drop one of the committee a line and we'll see what we can set up.
